Ingredients Required:

  • 4-5 fresh lemons
  • 1-2 tablespoons of turmeric powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons of grated coconut (optional, for added softness and nourishment)
  • A clean cotton or muslin cloth
  • 1-2 tablespoons of Ayurvedic oil (e.g., Narayana Taila, Mahanarayan Taila, or Karpooradi Taila)
  • Pan or griddle

Preparation and Application:

Prepare the Lemons: Cut the lemons into halves or quarters. Heat them lightly in a pan to make them soft and warm.

Add Turmeric and Coconut: Sprinkle turmeric powder and grated coconut over the lemons for enhanced therapeutic benefits.

Wrap the Poultice: Place the prepared lemon pieces into a muslin or cotton cloth and tie it securely to create a pouch.

Heat the Poultice: Warm the poultice on a griddle or pan, ensuring it is not too hot to prevent burns.

Prepare the Skin: Massage the affected area with warm Ayurvedic oil to prepare it for fomentation.

Foment the Area: Gently press and rub the warm poultice over the painful or stiff area in circular and tapping motions.

Reheat as Needed: Reheat the poultice periodically to maintain a consistent warmth throughout the therapy.

Duration: Continue the therapy for 20-30 minutes, focusing on the affected regions.
