Ingredients Required:

  • 1 cup of herbal powders (e.g., sand, dry ginger, or triphala powder)
  • 1 cup of grains (e.g., rice, barley, or horse gram)
  • A cotton or muslin cloth to prepare the potli
  • 1-2 tablespoons of Ayurvedic oil (optional, for pre-massage)
  • A griddle or pan for heating

Preparation and Application:

Prepare the Ingredients: Dry roast the herbal powders and grains in a pan until they are evenly warm and aromatic.

Make the Poultice: Transfer the roasted ingredients onto a muslin cloth and tie it securely to form a potli.

Warm the Poultice: Heat the potli on a griddle or pan for a few seconds to ensure it is comfortably warm for application.

Pre-Massage (Optional): Gently massage the affected area with Ayurvedic oil to enhance blood circulation and prepare the skin.

Apply the Poultice: Use the warm potli to gently press, tap, or rub the affected area in circular or linear motions.

Reheat as Needed: Reheat the potli periodically during the session to maintain an effective temperature.

Duration: Continue the therapy for 15-30 minutes, focusing on areas of stiffness, pain, or swelling.

Post-Treatment Care: Allow the body to rest and avoid exposure to cold immediately after the session.

This therapy is ideal for individuals with the following conditions:
