Netra Basti, also known as Akshi Tarpana, is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy where medicated ghee or oil is pooled around the eyes using a dough barrier. This therapy deeply nourishes and rejuvenates the optic nerves, eye muscles, and surrounding tissues, providing relief from strain, dryness, and vision-related issues.
The term Netra Basti comes from Sanskrit:
Netra = Eyes
Basti = Retention or pooling
This therapy is highly recommended for individuals experiencing digital eye strain, weakened eyesight, and dryness caused by excessive screen time.

Pure Ayurvedic ghee (such as Triphala Ghee) or medicated herbal oil is warmed to a lukewarm temperature.

The lukewarm ghee is gently poured into the dough ring, submerging the eyes. The patient keeps their eyes open and closed alternately for absorption.
The ghee remains in place for 15–20 minutes, allowing deep penetration and nourishment.
